The Parkinson Group specializes in medical and scientific communication. We offer two primary areas of service:
- Development of original or edited content to present medical and scientific information to professional and lay audiences. We work closely with clients to define objectives, develop content, and conceive and build communications vehicles that deliver appropriate information to the intended audience. Projects of this type include:
- Books
- Conference proceedings and program materials
- Science and medical newsletters for readers ranging from research scientists to animal owners
- Industry reports and white papers in subject areas such as biotechnology, environmental science, and industrial technology
- Content for medical, veterinary, and commercial web sites
- Manuals and handbooks on emerging technologies for client education and in-house training
- Editing of articles for submission to peer-review journals. This service is especially valued by researchers for whom English is a second language. We work closely with authors to edit their papers' English usage to conform to the editorial guidelines of standard reference sources including the American Medical Association Manual of Style, the Chicago Manual of Style, and individual journals' formatting and submittal requirements. Editing is done by experienced members of the American Medical Writers Association and the National Association of Science Writers who take care to avoid altering scientific meaning. We make all changes using track changes so authors can see both their original text and our recommended changes. We use embedded comments to discuss passages whose meaning is unclear and to suggest alternate phrasings.
We tailor our services to each project's requirements. Services can include any of the following:
- Consultation to define project needs and objectives
- Research and writing of original content for print or Web
- Interviews with science and medical subject-matter experts
- Publication management including page layout, print specifications, soliciting printer quotations and bids, and oversight of printing process, including proofing of bluelines and color proofs.
Please call or email us to discuss your project requirements.
